Winter Training Now in Full Swing

6 years ago By Kevin West

Sundays at 4pm won't be the same again...

Winter Nets started with a bang on Sunday 26th, at 4pm at the Accies Indoor School, just off Arboretum Road. We had a great turnout of over 20. Coach Mike 'Tyson' Yellowlees turned on the charm and got us doing a warm-up, some fielding and from our performance, re-emphasised why we will be focusing much of our efforts on stopping runs getting leaked, thanks to some unusually poor ground fielding and erratic throwing!

However, that short sharp 20 minutes turned into a good long bat for many of us, and throwdowns for those set to come in. Some new faces also, which is good to see; so, particular welcomes to Fahim (Umar's brother), Jamie (Cunners' cabbie neighbour), Sam (Heriots awfully polite cast-off - we hope to see you again mate) and the returning forgotten man of South India (Mani)... And Cunners himself - the wanderer returns!

Everyone got a good 15-20 minute bat and some rust started getting removed on those bowling shoulders. Personally, I felt Ozzy looked very solid, Dave Lawrie, Fahim, Sully and Olaf's Boy looked to be settling in to some great line and length. And praise also to Nicky B whose batting and bowling has come on. And Jamie "Just Keeps on Growing" Yellowlees batted well, along with a certain slimline Alan Moore.

The RHC Christmas Pie Muncher award goes to a T Pickles who now appears to be the most festively 'warm' member of the club now that Arnie and Mooro have turned fitness fanatics. Welcome also to Rajan's Pirates of the Caribbean earring and bravo to all those who volunteered their net fee subscription without being chased. Remember to bring your cash next week guys and here's hoping for a slightly higher turnout as Tyson promises to ramp up all elements of our winter training programme.

Long may it continue."

Where next?

Corry Boys on Top With the season almost up on us its good to see past and present Corry boys doing so well already this year...
Works to Begin at Barnton As mentioned on Twitter yesterday we have come to a resolution with school, council and PPI Amey to the neccessary work to the drainage at Barnton. While this is great result after our 4 year battle to resolve the situation it does have an immediate down side.
