Fraggle Rocks Mussleburgh

The team arrived at Musselburgh happy that the game was going ahead and looking forward to getting some match practise in, including Tom Rutherford as umpires need match practise as much as anyone you know.

The home team won the toss and opted to have a bat on the rather spongy wicket. Gus and Macca opened the bowling and the figures of 1-5-5 (Gus) and 3-14-5 (Macca) say it all.

Macca did admit he benefited from some good luck when stumbling through his delivery stride and bowling a waist high pie only to have it tapped back for a caught and bowled. Fraggle and Ringles carried on applying the pressure with a superb 2-17-5 and 0-9-5 respectively with Fraser removing their danger man who miss-timed a pull straight to Macca.

Ringles was unlucky not to be in the wickets after putting down a firmly struck caught and bowled chance. Sean and Mooro mopped up the tail with 2-1-1 and 2-2-1 both taking wickets with their first balls leaving Musselburgh on 49 all out.

The bowlers jobs were made easy with the top effort in the field, Will Balckett on his club debut was the mid wicket enforcer, Jonesey also making his club debut made mid on his own and Macca, Bonner, Sean and Gus all taking catches.

Sean and Will started the run chase, with Fraggle coming in at number 3 to get us close to the runs required. There was a bit of a wobble when a couple of wickets went quickly, coupled with the Musselburgh leg-spinner keeping the run rate down. Ultimately even with the pitch conditions Musselburgh could not defend their score and Mooro after attempting and failing to connect with a number of big swings much to everyone's amusement finally hit the winning runs.

Runs where scored by Sean Hoffman 25, Fraggle 12, and Mooro 7. A top effort by everyone, and a great way to blow away the old cobwebs and prepare for the season ahead

The Man of the Match was Fraser West - great performance with bat and ball.

Both the friendly games for the 1st XI where called off at the weekend.
