1's Lose First Game

As the 2nds where washed out again the first team took the long damp road to Stoneywood Dyce at the weekend. After the long journey up the game eventually got under way at 3.50pm after agreeing to reduce the game to 30 overs a side.LAKE BARNTON

Losing the toss the Lions where put into bat with Preston and Cunners looking to get about the opening attack.

As usual Cunners wasn't hanging around to have a look but was bowled for 15 to leave the Lions on 24 for 1.

Preston followed not long after, going for just 9, as he was ct off a van Vuuren ball. This started a bit of a collapse for the Lions as Kev mucked in at one end Reevo, Rob More and Skinny all departed quite swiftly for not very many as the Lions slumped to 50 for 5.

However the light in this under par performance with the bat was Kev and Lamby as they helped get things back on track before Lamby was bowled by Ninan with the dreaded 'Nelsons' on the board.

A nice little partnership of 61 to make it a bit more respectable. Az Abid in to the middle. With Kev on 44, overs running out and the runs looking short he tried to push it on a bit but was undone by Louw.

Az the hit the shot of the day with a beautiful cover drive to the boundary.

Things looking up for second before the eventual collapse with Mallen getting out to Stander on the last ball of the innings.

With only 124 on the board the Lions had set themselves a tough task of keeping Stoneywood Dyce under control.

The Lions needed to strike early but where unable to get that vital breakthrough until the Dyce where on 41 as Preston bowled opener Lamb.

With wickets becoming hard to come by the home team eventually made it the winning line with 5 wickets and a couple of overs to spare. Kev being the pick of the bowlers taking 2 for 18 from his 6 over spell.

A long day for nothing but with the boys still in a positive mood they'll be back on the winning trail in no time.
