NEWS 1's Get Another Scalp! The first team continued their run of good wins by beating Dunfermline by 6 wickets. They won the toss and went into bat looking to score a big total. however they didn't count on Mallen pulling out one of the performances of the season.
Some great fielding and a great spell from Mark Allen left the visitors a miserable 95 all out. With a little bit of a blip at the start of the innings the Lions found themselves 8 for 3 before Cunners, Luke and Pallav got us home at a canter. Finishing 97 for 4. Another 12 points, another great victory. 2's v Westquarter The 2nd team failed to continue their good run after losing to Westquarter in a top of the table clash. A middle order collapse saw the 2's post a low score of 134 all out. Stand in skipper Sean Hoffman in the runs again as scored a valuable 44. Alan Moore also scored a very patient 23. Westquarter then handed out a batting lesson as they patiently made their way to the total using up 44 overs to do so. Their opener Farooqi carried his bat for 51. Lets hope the 2's batsmen take note of this and learn from it! Due to availability and the summer hols the 3's where unable to raise a side against Largo. 1's v Edinburgh In what proved to be a very close game Edinburgh managed to come away with the points after a great effort from the Lions to deny them the spoils. Edinburgh scored 209 all out as Mallen was again in the wickets with 4 for 40. Proving again that his ability is far greater than his own modesty allows. Pav and Luke nipped in with a wicket each while Josh took 2 for and BP once again in the wickets with a good 2 for 29 from 9 overs... have we found our new fossil? In reply Josh scored a good 61 before he ran out of steam as he and Thom put on a great show of rnning between the wickets. Skipper Lamby took over the run chase with a great 46 before he was 'stumped'. With Edinburgh doing their best to hand us the points with as many over throughs and extras they could give us the Lions finally succumbed, but nbot before Paddy had smashed a nice 4 to 'mid-off' (or as we know it cow corner!) With 3 games left it's still possible to get out of the play-off spot but this will require 3 good wins. I'm positive the 1's are capable of doing it!! BLOODY RAIN!!!! With promotion hopes slowly slipping away Haddington escaped the wrath of an eager Lions side as the rain saved them from some punishment. This weekend seems like crunch time as they take on Penicuik and Stenhousemuir in a double header weekend. 3's Get Win The 3's took on Edinburgh South at the Inch and came away with a good 20 point win as they bowled them out for 67. Arun Jay knocked a 41 to help chase down the total and get the 3's back on track. Well done to Al Moore who keeps his 100% record as stand in skipper. |
