2's Win In Top Of The Table Clash

Saturday saw the 2nd's come out on top against title contenders Drummond Trinity.

Having been one of the favourites at the start of the season they had proved their worth after winning their first 2 games.

But Drummond Trinity's march was stopped quite abruptly in their tracks by the Super 2's.

Having managed to get a game in around all the rain at the weekend the 2's started of in the field after skipper Kevin West won a vital toss of the coin!

Sending Drummond Trinity into bat on what proved to be an inconsistent wicket saw the home side crumble to what was a relentless bowling attack.

After a tight opening spell form Paul Reed and Azhar Abid, Paul Geogeghan and Gus Hoffman took over which proved to come at the right time.
"Delighted with a win but let's keep working hard at nets to stay at the top"

Giggsy struck first as he bowled the DT's skipper out before Gus struck at the other end to remove the other opener and start his spell with a wicket maiden.

That trend continued for Gus as he took 3 wicket maidens for just 13 runs.

BP was gutted to be taken off after a double wkt maiden!

A great first change combination of Giggs and Hoffman kept the home side under control before returning legend Mark Cunningham and stalwart BP took the ball and restricted them further.

BP took a great 3 for 8 from 5 overs before the Reed and Abid came back to finish things off. DT's finishing 96 all out.

A top fielding effort all round only saw one drop catch all day and many should have been 4's reduced to 2's after being well chased down.

Knowing all to well that DT have a good bowling attack and with conditions in favour of the bowlers it was Hoffman Snr and Mikey Yellowlees who would open the batting.

Looking solid early on against some fiery bowling Tyson hit the self destruct button and played across the line at straight delivery.

He wasn't the only one to do so as the story from last years encounters with DT seemed to be happening all over again!

Things starting to look a bit shaky at 29 for 3 with Sean and Skinny departing in quick succession.

But it wasn't long before Cunners was back in his stride and knocked a quick 27 before being bowled. Gus Hoffman hung around with Giggsy for a while and both looking solid almost saw us through to the end before Gus fell into spinner Coulson's ct and bowled trap.

Westy had a quick flourish before Giggsy and Reedy finished things off for the day and secured the 20 points.

1's lose points in 2 games...

Well things haven't gone entirely to plan for Lamby's men as they suffered two defeats at the weekend.

The first at the hands of Stew Mel as the 1's posted 205 with Luke scoring 57 and new pro Josh Ryan knocking 45 before the visitors chased it down with 6 wickets to spare.

Things only got worse on Sunday as they lost out to Stirling County. Stirling batting first knocked 221 for 8 before reducing the Lions to 154 all out.

To make matters worse the Lions lost a point for slow over rate and ended the weekend on -1 point.

Not a great position for the 1's but with the team a lot more settled after all the off the field issues with pro's etc lets hope the boys can turn things round and get a win next weekend.

We believe in you boys!! COME ONNNNN!!!!!

The 3's however didn't feature this week as they where the only team to suffer a cancellation due to the rain.
