3's get off to a great start

The 3rd team started their league campaign away to Leith last Saturday and came away with a comfortable win under new captian Ally Urquhart with a comfortable 217 run victory over Leith Franklins/Beige at Leith Links on Saturday. The away side dominated their opponents with both bat and ball, scoring at close to 8 an over and requiring only 20 overs to wrap the game up.

Sean Hoffman proved to be the backbone of the RHC innings with an accomplished 76 with some punishing shots all around the wicket. Alan Moore, Neil Russell, Adam Knight and Alistair McConnachie all weighed in with quickfire 20’s to boost the score through the 250 mark. In the end, RHC racked up a daunting 264 from only 31 overs.

This score was to become even more intimidating after Paul Chapman picked up two scalps in a memorable first over, leaving the home team 2 for 0. This soon became 4 for 13 as Macca picked up a brace in his first over. Macca added two more on his way to 4-7 and Ali Oliver picked up his first two wickets of the season with his nagging line and length. Alan Moore wrapped up the tail as Leith were routed for 47 all out.

It was a smashing performance to start the season, with every member of the team contributing in some capacity. Hopefully this will lay down a marker for the rest of the season.

2's Win Friendly v Heriot Watt

The 2nd XI played well in a friendly fixture at barnton on saturday as the dismissed Heriot Watt for 139.

Paddy took 1 for 16 off 9 overs and Giggsy did the damage with 3 for 26 from 8 overs. Youngsters Ramsay Muir and Fraser Nicholl also bowled a couple of good spells.

In reply Gareth Swales retired on 53 and Nick Adams hobbled to 34 before retiring hurt as old age slowly catches up with him!!!

Mikey Whalen scored 17 before getting out and new comer Srikanth scored 14 to finish things off.

The 1st XI friendly v Perthshire...

... was called off due to rain.

Looks like with the numbers at training and depth in the squads will mean that people will be jossling for places this year.

So selection will be based on performance and attendance at nets. No ones place will be safe in any side... you have been warned!!
